Defending champions India have been placed in group A of the women’s Asia Cup T20 Championships along with arch-rivals Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal. The tournament is set to start on July 19 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka and will feature eight teams, one more than the last edition. Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals on July 26, with the final scheduled for July 28. India holds the record for the most titles in the tournament, with seven wins so far.
The highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for July 21. ACC president, Jay Shah, expressed excitement about the increased participation and competitiveness among the teams, highlighting the growing popularity of women’s cricket in Asia.
The Asia Cup will feature female umpires, similar to the previous edition, and serves as a crucial event leading up to the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in September.
