IPL 2021 Sharjah:  Bangalore vs Punjab: Yuzvendra Chahal’s three-wicket haul in a single over helped Royal Challengers Bangalore reach the play-offs by defeating Punjab Kings. On the other hand, Punjab’s challenge in the tournament is almost over. After defeating Punjab by 6 runs, Bangalore secured a place in the play-offs with a total of 16 points. Three teams in the play-offs have been confirmed and now only the fourth team is awaited.

The Punjab Kings got off to a strong start in chance against Bangalore team. Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal shared a 91-run stand for the first wicket. After Lokesh Rahul returned to the tent, Nicholas Pooran (3) returned cheaply. Mayank Agarwal completed his half century. He was also well supported by Markram. But in the 16th over of the innings, Punjab’s math went awry. Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Mayank Agarwal for 57 runs. In the same over, Chahal took the wickets of Sarfaraz Khan and then Markram (20). Punjab could not recover from this. Shah Rukh Khan, who has the ability to make big shots, was run out in the last over and the match turned completely in Bangalore’s favor. Punjab could manage 158 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had put up a 165-run stand against Punjab on the strength of Maxwell’s superb half-century. Batting first after winning the toss, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal gave the team a strong start. The duo put up a 68-run stand for the first wicket. Henriques bowled Kohli to give the team their first victory. Henriques did not even allow Daniel Kristen to open an account to replace him. In his second over, Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed for 40 and Henriques made a comeback for Punjab. Glenn Maxwell then took over the match. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his 57 off 33 balls. Shami dismissed Maxwell, Shahbaz and Gardner in the final over to put Bangalore at 164 for seven in the allotted 20 overs.
