IPL 2021 Dubai: Final : Chennai vs Kolkata: In the IPL 2021 FINAL, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs to clinch the IPL title. Faf du Plessis’ strong 86 helped CSK reach 192 for three in their first innings. KKR’s batsmen could not meet this challenge. After openers Venkatesh Iyer (50) and Shubman Gill (51) gave the team a strong opener, the rest of the batsmen thwarted their efforts. As no other batsman played responsibly, they lost by 27 runs and had to settle for the runners-up spot.
The innings, which was tilted by Kolkata for 10 overs, then abruptly shifted to CSK. From 90 for no loss, KKR reached 165 for 9 in 20 overs. Therefore, CSK won the tournament by 27 runs. From CSK, Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets, Ravindra Jadeja & Josh Hazelwood took 2-2 wickets while Deepak Chahar and Dwayne Bravo took 1-1 wicket.
Earlier, playing first, Chennai was able to score mammoth score of 192/3 with the help of solid performances from opener Ruturaj Gaikwad 32 (off 27 balls) & Faf du Plessis 86 (off 59 balls). The openers were then well supported by quick hitters Robin Uthappa 31 (off 15 balls) & Moeen Ali 37 (not out off 20 balls). From Kolkata, Sunil Narine took 2 wickets while Shivam Mavi took 1 wicket.
Faf de Plessis of CSK is declared Man of The Match for his inning of 59 balls 86 runs.
