ACA issues show-cause notice to Hanuma Vihari over captaincy dispute

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has issued a show-cause notice to Hanuma Vihari a month after he raised concerns about political interference in the association leading to his removal as Andhra captain.

Vihari has not yet responded to the notice, which was served after the ACA apex council meeting a few days ago. An ACA official confirmed the notice, stating that they are waiting for Vihari’s reply and do not want to prolong the issue.

The official mentioned that the show-cause notice is to understand the reasons behind Vihari’s previous comments and give him an opportunity to express his grievances. They also acknowledged Vihari’s contributions to Andhra cricket and his role in the team’s success in domestic cricket.

After Andhra’s defeat to Madhya Pradesh dashed their hopes of reaching the Ranji Trophy semi-final for the first time, Vihari announced on Instagram that he would not play for Andhra again. He had initially cited personal reasons for stepping down as captain after the match against Bengal in January but later attributed it to political interference.

Vihari also shared a letter of support from his teammates on social media. However, KN Prudhuvi Raj, the 17th player in the match against Bengal, denied Vihari’s accusations and stated that personal attacks and vulgar language are not acceptable. He claimed that everyone in the team knows the truth of what happened that day.
